Tonight we take the great leap into production. Our biggest endeavor thus far as a company. I’m having a hard time sleeping because of the quantities of clothing we’re printing and the amount of money changing hands…. and I, we, couldn’t be more excited.
There’s a certain amount of freedom you feel when you put it all out there. Kind of liberating.
We haven’t even printed this line and people are already clamoring. Amongst other things, it looks like we’re gonna be working with the one and only Mr. Bill Hallman on a little something special comin up, so stay tuned.
I know I say that all the time, but seriously, stay tuned.
And if anyone out there has online storefront experience, hit us up. We need some help and are more than willing to make it worth your while.
Daniel here…….So I had to take a business trip to LA this week. I came and worked on some projects and stayed down at Hermosa Pier area where it was f’n COLD. I come out to La expecting some sun on the beach and all I get is rain and clouds. I hate LA. Its all strip malls, hollywood trash, ghetto, and industrial areas with speckles of nice/cool areas of Santa Monica, Pasadena, Malibu, Hermosa, and Manhatten Beach.
On some random notes,
I had my first hockey burger which was a burger with sliced pickles, eggs, and sliced up hot dogs on it………BRILLIANT!!!
I went and stopped by Randy’s Donuts and I basically stopped because this Giant Donut on top of this building told me to.
I saw some sweet bikes on Hermosa.
I checked in at the airport and Paparazi were on my tail. I was amazed because I thought they were taking pics of one of the founders of Esperanza and they kept saying “Daniel, Danny…..over here” and I was shocked. Then I looked to my right and Danny Masterson from that 70s show was 2 ft from me with Bijou Phillips and I my pride was crushed….crushed I tell you. He is an even smaller guy than me, but was cool. Quick side note, when this was all going on there was an Asian Nun to my left wearing her regular Nun outfit and an Ecko Unlimited windbreaker. Damn, I cant wait till some crazy Nuns are wearing the ol’ Esperanza.
WELL OFF TO LA$ VEGA$ FOR ME FOR SOME R&R. Bart and EK are working their tails off writing orders right now. Its going to be a great year.
I will check back with everyone with tales of making it rain and motorboating at the Spearmint Rhino.
When he asked me what concert I was headed to one night in high school and where it was being held, I responded “the Scofflaws, Dad, in Little 5.” My Father, demonstrating the utmost tolerance for all lifestyles, then responded, “Nice….. where every day is Halloween.”
We’re printing this sucker on 3/4 sleeve baseball tshirts, KISS style. Rock On Atlanta. Rock On L5P. Rock On ESPERANZA.

p.s. the one john bramblett has been begging for a shoutout on the blog… so here it is. JB, the next time I call you, put on your uniform (birks, baggy jeans, grey tshirt (if away), white polo (if at home)) and come meet up. Don’t tell me you’re having a “wii party” on saturday night. Jeeeeez man, how old are you? Everyone knows friday night is wii night.
Something strange I stumbled across today. Yeah the whole mash-up thing got pretty stale pretty quick, but this mix-tape of classic Hov tracks over classic Studio One riddim is pretty interesting. He sounds downright natural over that signature Coxsone Dodd bounce. Check it out.
Also selected for aural pleasure today:
This is some straight early 90s jazz / hip-hop fusion, inna Brand New Heavies style (Guru & Pharcyde colabs of course).
Jazz Liberatorz are 3 dudes from France churning out the dusty dusty for a nice selection of mc’s to chatter over. Most notably FatLip and Asheru. The J. Sands and Sadat X tracks are pretty dope too. Check it as well. The name of the album is “Clin D’oeil,” which is French for “Zis iss zee, how you say, American rap mewsic, wif zee jazz, no? Oh, oui oui…”
Hope you guys don’t have plans for tomorrow night, cause the All Night Drug Prowling Wolves are playing at the Star Bar. Its gonna be a wild, sweaty, beer fueled ruckus of a night so come git into some trouble with us and support some tried and true Atlanta music.
And thanks for all the feedback on the sneak peak of the new line… that was just a taste.
Gotta crash now cause I have to be up early for some serious DIY guerilla marketing kinkos action tomorrow am.
So more images have come in of more fans of Esperanza all over the world. Today we have Laura and Jeff. They are in Peru. They went up to Machu Picchu and Laura is wearing our old school 14 point fashion track jacket. There were only a limited run of these jackets and I think Laura has the only red one.
Well thanks for the pics Laura and Jeff. Keep representing the “A”.
thought we’d throw a little sneak peak of the new stuff atcha. big weekend ahead as we court boutiques, work on the new website, and get all the promo stuff in line. the Atlantan magazine has contacted us about a possible story, which we’re mondo pumped about. you should really start to see things happen next week. stay tuned.
That’s right…..before we had Thialand pics and now fans from Brasil send us pictures of Esperanza. This is actually my sister, Sonia, and her boyfriend, Alex. They are on a trip around the world. Their first stop, RIO!!! They partied during the Carnaval weeks and relaxed on the beach with some or probably many caiparinhas. Next they are off to the North of Brasil to party for my Grandfather’s 80th birthday. I was thinking about going but it is the same time as our BREAST EVENT EVER(www.breasteventever.com)
MORE TO COME FROM THEIR TRAVELS AROUND THE WORLD. YOU CAN CHECK ON UPDATES FROM THEIR TRAVELS AT THEIR BLOG SITE WWW.GONEROAMING.WORDPRESS.COM
My latest musical obsession is DJ Alibi. I learned about this gem from The One Nero, who by the way has the best blog ever! WWW.THEGOLDBRICK.NET for information on anything that is cool in music, video, or sports. He knows it all. I took this info from his site so I can’t take credit for the groundwork, but I am here to tell you that this album is the shizzle. you can grab it at….
that link will give you 2 albums; Four Days in Geneva and One Day and they are both Stellar!
Mikhail Galkin, aka DJ Alibi, was born outside of Moscow, Russia in 1986. He’s been steeped in music his whole life. At 4, Alibi picked up a violin, then a piano, a trumpet, a bass, a guitar, and others to follow. At the age of 12, Alibi’s family moved to Toronto, Canada where his love of music followed him. Within six months of living in his new hometown, Alibi had already made his first beat utilizing his newest instruments: turntables and samplers. In 2005, the talented 19-year old sent a disc to Thes One who immediately realized the talent in DJ Alibi’s production. The disc was filled with sophisticated arrangements that push musical boundaries and defy post hip-hop labeling. The now 21-year old shies away from the title prodigy, but the heads out there know that this is an accurate word to dscribe this producer.Vibe on his debut album, One Day, which offers the perfect balance of music theory and hip-hop intuition. Consisting of eleven purely-instrumental tracks and five tracks complimented by Giant Panda, Insight, Theo 3, and Alibi’s crew Bamboombox; One Day is a mixture of boom-bap rooted tunes and cleverly-worded rhymes unlike any hip-hop record to date.
And while Daniel’s Kool-Aid post was on time, I’ll get him a Strunk&White so that his posts are more… umm.. effective from now on. Ha, just kidding Danny. Those shoes are hot man, what are you talking about?
I’m bursting with how awesome the new line is gonna be if everything goes smoothly, which it won’t, but we’ll do our best.
And as a quick heads-up, we’re not only launching a new line and website, we’re also going head first into the world of freelance design… There have been so many requests that we had to give in. A portfolio will be displayed online and available for download in .pdf format. Pricing available upon contact.
Now, it’s time to hit the hay. Daniel and EK are no doubt up to their ears in bottles after seeing the Black Lips tonight and getting involved in the Sinner’s Ball After Party debauchery.
So Reebok has a new idea. Lets make a shoe that is designed after a famous kids drink. Thats right they have designed a KOOLAID shoe. It has old school looks but new school flavor. Yeah I said it, flavor. The shoes will actually smell like the flavor they represent.
So what you are telling me is that when I put my new Koolaid kicks on with my stank feet it will make it all smell like Purplesaurus Rex or will it morph into the bad smell that invaded Sienfelds car when he used valet.
Honestly, I can see these things be some hot item for no reason at all other than it is different.
Then, you will start seeing them at the Salvation army all beat up and smelling like Purplesaurus Feet.
Big ups to our good friend Ryan Nerone who resides in the land of mopeds, kickboxing, $10 Massages, tsunamis, and of course the ladyboys…….where else but Thailand. Check him out here sporting the “Put your Hands together for the Dirty South” shirt. (Yeah its a long picture….its a tall island dammit)
If you dont believe me about the ladyboys……here is some proof from when I went out there a couple months ago….YIKES!!!
GET READY FOR THE NEW LINE PEOPLE!!! SNEAK PEAKS WILL START LEAKING ONLY HERE!!!
Ohh and if your looking for a GREAT blog site check out Ryan’s(the guy in the pic above) blog straight out of Thailand www.thegoldbrick.net
